Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 1 batch

Ingredients

  • 1 part corn starch adjust to desired batch size
  • 1 part baking soda equal to corn starch amount
  • food coloring as needed for vibrant colors
  • water to desired paint consistency
  • vinegar for fizzing effect
  • 1 spray bottle filled with vinegar
  • muffin tin or small bowls for mixing colors
  • paint brushes or use squeeze bottles for variety

Instructions

  • Choose a washable, outdoor area like a driveway or sidewalk to paint. It may get messy!
  • In separate containers (like muffin tin compartments), mix 1 part corn starch with 1 part baking soda.
  • Add food coloring to each container. Use more drops for brighter colors.
  • Slowly stir in water until your paint reaches the desired consistency. Less water gives thicker paint; more water makes it fluid.
  • Use paint brushes (or squeeze bottles) to paint designs on sidewalks or driveways.
  • Fill a spray bottle with vinegar and spritz over the painted areas to activate the fizzy reaction.

Notes

Use squeeze bottles instead of brushes for different effects. Mix colors as you paint for marbled designs. Add more food coloring for extra vibrant shades. Always supervise young children and wear clothes that can get messy!
