DIY Clay Diffuser Stones

Create your own natural clay diffuser stones using air-dry clay and essential oils. These customizable scent stones are perfect for refreshing any space with calming aromas.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 1 day
Servings: 12 stones

Ingredients

  • 2 cups air-dry clay available at craft stores or online
  • 1/2 cup water add more or less as needed
  • 30–40 drops essential oil lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, etc.
  • food coloring or natural dye optional, for color
  • cookie cutters, stamps, or textured objects optional, for shaping and decoration

Method

  1. In a bowl, combine your air-dry clay and water. Add water slowly until the clay reaches a soft, play-dough-like consistency.
  2. Add essential oil directly into the clay. Knead thoroughly with your hands until the scent is evenly distributed.
  3. Shape the clay into marble-sized balls or flatten into discs. Use cookie cutters or press textured items into the clay for design.
  4. Place the shaped clay pieces on parchment paper or a cooling rack. Allow them to dry completely for 24–48 hours.
  5. Once dry, add a few more drops of essential oil if desired. Place the diffuser stones around your home for a refreshing scent.

Notes

To make seasonal designs, use themed cookie cutters or textures like rosemary sprigs or lace. Store stones in a dry container and refresh with oil as needed. Perfect for drawers, desks, or as gifts.
