Description
This Perfect Iced Tea is your go-to guide for making a refreshing and flavorful beverage right at home. Whether you love a classic lemon blend or crave fruity or herbal infusions, this recipe gives you the tools to create a custom iced tea that’s crisp, cool, and absolutely delicious.
Ingredients
6 cups filtered or spring water
4 teaspoons loose-leaf black tea (or 4 tea bags)
1/4 cup sugar, honey, or sweetener of choice (adjust to taste)
1 lemon, thinly sliced
Optional: fresh mint leaves, sliced peaches, berries, or herbs like basil or rosemary
Instructions
-
Bring 3 cups of filtered water to a boil.
-
Remove from heat and add the tea leaves or tea bags. Let steep for 3–5 minutes (black tea) or 2–3 minutes if using green or white tea.
-
Remove tea leaves or bags to prevent oversteeping and bitterness.
-
Add sweetener while the tea is still warm. Stir to dissolve completely.
-
In a large pitcher, combine the brewed tea with 3 cups of cold filtered water.
-
Add lemon slices and any optional fruits or herbs. Stir to combine.
-
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until cold.
-
Serve over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with mint, extra fruit slices, or edible flowers for presentation.
Notes
For a smoother, less bitter tea, try cold brewing: combine tea and water in a pitcher and refrigerate for 6–12 hours, then strain.
Use flavored syrups or fruit juice concentrates for unique variations.
Make ahead and store for up to 3 days in the fridge.
