Nothing beats the comforting aroma of a classic Homemade Apple Pie baking in the oven. With its flaky crust and spiced apple filling, this dessert is perfect for any occasion!

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (for crust)

1 teaspoon salt (for crust)

1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed (for crust)

1/4 to 1/2 cup ice water (for crust)

6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for filling)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)


Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Pie Crust:

  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough forms a ball. Divide the dough into two, flatten each into a disk, wrap, and refrigerate for 1 hour.

2️⃣ Make the Filling:

  • In a large bowl, toss apple slices with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice. Set aside.

3️⃣ Roll Out the Dough:

  • On a floured surface, roll out one dough disk into a 12-inch circle. Place it into a 9-inch pie dish and trim excess dough.

4️⃣ Assemble the Pie:

  • Pour the apple filling into the crust, ensuring an even layer. Roll out the second dough disk and place it over the filling. Seal and flute the edges, then cut slits on top to allow steam to escape.

5️⃣ Apply the Egg Wash:

  • Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.

6️⃣ Bake:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Cover the edges with foil if they brown too quickly.

7️⃣ Cool and Serve:

  • Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow the filling to set.
